Event Peer Gynt (Peer Gynt)
Print | Go to Admin
DescriptionWith "Peer Gynt" the author's original intention was to thoroughly settle scores with his people by describing a Norwegian who does not want to sacrifice a single bit and runs away from the seriousness of life. He chose one of the most prominent characters of Norwegian fairy tales as the role model for the main character - Askepott, a daydreamer. During the writing process, however, the poetic verse drama deviated a little from the original course and instead acquired a wider dimension. Ibsen's Peer is not only a dreamer and a bustler, but also a poet, a big thinker and a visionary. Ibsen's colorful and imaginative "Peer Gynt" can be seen as an attempt to answer the philosopher Immanuel Kant's question "Was soll ich tun?" - what should a person do in the world, how should he act, so that it is right and good. The play is dedicated to Ida Urbel's 120th birthday. Ida Urbel was a ballet master and director, whose creative path began at the Ugala Theater and achieved mastery with legendary productions in Vanemuine Theatre, one of the most notable of which was "Peer Gynt".
