Event Hedda

DescriptionHedda Gabler lives a life of conventions. She is trapped: in her marriage, in her time and in a play. Hedda is an anti-hero, a pioneer and an enigma, all at once. What drives her in her apparently destructive deeds? What makes her who she is? Her longing? Her pride? Her actions? In this play, first performed in 1891, Henrik Ibsen challenged the values of his times – not only in its content but also by its form and its relationship with the audience. WORX-director Heiki Riipinen and his team follow suit: They re-charge the play. Hedda’s home and life become a "crime scene" where the spectrum of traditional interpretations of relationships and being are extended beyond the heteronormative.
