Further Information | Number of performances: 22. / Description of Mike Elliston's play DEAD on the website http://www.thedeadplay.com/: / "Loosely based on Ibsen's last play When We Dead Awaken, Mike Elliston's new play creates a collision between art and theatre, artist and high theatrics. Set in Dublin and Co. Wicklow in or around the present day, DEAD pulls no punches with language, insults, profanity and themes of sex and death. / The central character of Pauric Fermoy is based on Arnold Rubek in the original - drained of his youthful energy, enthusiasm and drive, but when he comes face to face with his original muse and inspiration, Deirdre (Ibsen's Irene) the cells that he thought were dead inside him flicker back into life and bring colour back to his cheeks. But with a sex-starved wife and predatory foe who has tracked him down, nobody said it was going to be an easy ride....thirty years is a long time to be away from home. And now we'll see if more than the currency has changed." |
