A Doll’s House was staged by altogether five different theatres in Shanghai, Jinan and Nanjing in the course of 1935. Due to this and strong feminist debates with Ibsen’s play as the starting point, 1935 was subsequently called "The Nora Year" in the history of Chinese theatre.
