Nuran (Nora / نورا) |
Description | Jad Shukr writes his text inspired by the character of Nora in "A Doll's House", based on his specialization in theater and psychology. He analyzes the main characters and places them in a modern mold, in a theater within a theater. The play juxtaposes the lives of the original characters with those of contemporary theater actors rehearsing and performing the same story. Central to the plot is Rahaf, an actress whose control over her decisions is usurped by her husband and director, mirroring Nora's struggle against her controlling husband, Torvald. As the story progresses, Rahaf draws inspiration from Nora's bold move to reject societal norms and assert her independence. The play explores themes of gender roles, autonomy, and the quest for personal freedom, blending drama and comedy to reflect both Ibsen's original characters and modern social dynamics. |
