DescriptionThis play examines what it might have happened to Nora after she left her husband and children. Set in Capri, twenty years after her departure, Nora must once again face her past when her daughter, Emmy, joins her in Italy after leaving her husband and eloping with her lover, the captain Andersen. In Viola's play, Nora is a broken woman, who regrets her choices and her intransigence, and begs her daughter not to make the same mistakes. If in the original work Nora represents an emancipated woman, in Viola's play she represents the feminine urge to be a wife and a mother.
