Event Ordalie

DescriptionFreely inspired by Henrik Ibsen's Pretenders to the Crown. If Henrik Ibsen's play leads to the restoration of peace, "Ordalie" begins with it. The play takes place during the course of one night. After a performance of of "The Pretenders" to the Crown, four of the play's actors - playing Haakon Hakonson, Jarl Skule, the Bishop of Oslo and the skald (poet) Jatgeir - guard a field of ruins against the threat of bulldozers coming to destroy it in the early morning. With body and soul they defend the land that is proof that a war crime has taken place. The ruins defended by the actors embody the obscenity of the reconstruction policy that has been implemented by the Lebanese government since the 1990s, without evoking a real site.
