DescriptionThe priest Brand in Henrik Ibsen's reading drama of the same name is a character out of the ordinary. An uncompromising idealist who places high demands on himself and his surroundings, and who is willing to sacrifice the dearest thing he has in order to realize his great calling – a conversion of the human race. Brand is not easy to get understand. What is he really? A tragic hero? A fanatic out of touch with reality, or a revolutionary savior? By examining the exceptional human being Brand, his extreme demands and actions, and his relationships and surroundings – we may be able to spot something essential about being human.
